Taxicab Geometry in Chess
One of the most basic applications that can be found involving taxicab distance is chess. The rook pieces move Moves either just horizontally or just vertically. Bishops move in an L-shape, a total of of four units. Though this does pertain to taxicab distance, it does not provide an adequate application of the geometry. It does, however, provide a good example for students who have trouble understanding the basics of the geometry.
